Have you been happy living on Marigold for the past 2 years?

Oh my goodness! I’ve loved living on Marigold! What an adventure. I’ve fallen in love with river living, met amazing people, had romantic evenings in front of the fire, cooked roast dinners for friends, moored up in the wilderness and amongst bustling cities and spent long summer evenings outside by the boat with a campfire. It’s a wonderful social lifestyle, within a friendly boaty community. I also enjoyed getting creative making her over. I’m now continuing boat life living with my partner Yello and saying goodbuy to Marigold. We don’t need two boats and I’d love for Marigold to go to a new home where she will be used to her full potential.

I haven't lived or cruised on a boat before. Can you show me the ropes?

Yes! Included within the Marigold sale is a first time boater induction day. If you haven’t lived on a boat before, I’m here to show you around Marigold and give you all the tips and tricks that I know.

I first moved onto Marigold not having any experiance of cruising or living on a Board. I’m very grateful to my friends Marina and Myles @CruisingAlba who showed me the ropes, and were on-hand to answer any questions I had. I’d love to pass on this information to Marigold’s next owner starting with an induction day, and going forward should you have questions I can help with in the future.

Included within the induction day is:

  • Showing you the maps, apps and technology I use for cruising.
  • Linking you up with the Boating social media network.
  • A thorough tour of Marigold including hidden inspection hatches
  • An explanation and tour of the plumbing system.
  • An explanation and tour of the electrics system.
  • How to change a gas bottle.
  • Handing over the brands and colours of all paintwork used
  • How to fill up the water tank.
  • How to light a fire, and use the Webasto heater/hot water.
  • How to bleed the radiators and how to maintain the header tank.
  • How to fill up the water coolant.
  • How to check the oil, and check the engine before cruising.
  • Mooring knots demo
  • Mooring pins/hammer demo
  • Cruising & mooring demo
  • Unlimited Rooibos Tea, vegan brunch and snacks!

Can I work from the boat and charge all of my gadgets?

Yes! There are plenty of 12v sockets to directly charge mobile phones and other USB gadgets.  For laptops and other 240v appliances, there are multiple plug sockets to use and a Victron inverter. Simply flick the inverter on when you want to charge your laptop/blender or other appliance, then turn it off when finished.  Marigold’s batteries are charged by the solar panels and can be topped up by running the engine when needed in the winter.

How long does the water tank last?

That’s dependent on personal preference of shower length, number of crew and how scrimpy you are with water for washing up!  Let’s say you’re a solo boater using an average of 10 litres a day – the water tank would last you for 55 days.  It’s a big tank!

What paperwork does Marigold come with?

The most recent October full survey is available electronically upon request. She also comes with a bundle of paperwork from the previous owner showing her original build specs, some receipts for blacking/work over the years, and some appliance manuals.

Have you had any problems with Marigold's engine and has it been serviced regularly?

I’ve never had any problems with Marigold’s engine, she’s never broken down and the engine has been well maintained. I’ve had her engine serviced every six months and the previous owners looked after her too.  She starts first time and I’ve been told that the Isuzu 35 is a very reliable engine.
